Chamber Mission

The mission of the Cambridge Area Chamber of Commerce is to enhance the economic, civic, and cultural growth of the area, to improve the quality of life in the community, and to act as the voice of business. It makes available to all members of the business community, firms, and individuals alike, the necessary vehicle through which to combine forces for executing the continuous, year-after-year program of work necessary for positive business development.

Ohio Mid-Eastern Government Association - OMEGA

OMEGA serves the Appalachian region through economic development. The organization was formed in 1968 and the original name was TVRAC and changed to OMEGA in 1975.
OMEGA offers many services, including:
🫶site development
👉 downtown revitalization
🫶assistance with new water lines
🌳 parks and recreation
👉revolving loan fund for new businesses
🚗 regional transportation organization
🚸partnership with ODOT for street signs
and so much more!!
 
The OMEGA team works with township trustees, mayors of villages and cities, commissioners, port authority directors, and economic developers.
The counties that are served through the region by OMEGA:

▪️ Belmont
▪️ Carroll
▪️ Columbiana
▪️ Coshocton
▪️ Harrison
▪️ Holmes
▪️ Jefferson
▪️ Muskingum
and
▪️ Tuscarawas
 
Dr. Vicki King-Maple became the Executive Director of OMEGA in November of 2023 when previous Director Jeannette Wierzbicki retired after 12 years. Dr. Maple says her team of 10 – and growing! – serves their region by writing grants, planning and implementing projects, as well as serve as a liaison between the community and the funding source.
Their mission is “Connecting communities to resources”. And it shows!!
 
In 2023, OMEGA helped communities in this region invest and secure $45 million dollars!! Some examples of their projects this past year:
$5 million grant for Belmont College and $2.15 million grant for The Wilds.

Cambridge Area Chamber of Commerce Awards Booth Distinguished Public Service Award 

CAMBRIDGE — Michelle Carpenter-Wilkinson and Stevie Fairchild were recently recognized for their work and dedication to improve the community by the Cambridge Area Chamber of Commerce.

As the executive director of Heaven of Hope, Carpenter-Wilkinson received the Distinguished Public Service Award. The award is given annually to an individual who demonstrates outstanding personal contributions by ways of active service, leadership and cause.

Michelle Carpenter-Wilkinson received the Distinguished Public Service Award from Jennifer Vincent. 
 

She has worked for 28 years for Haven of Hope as an advocate for victims of crime. She is the founder and chair of essential organizations such as Marsy’s Law Task Force and the Southeastern Ohio Human Trafficking Coalition.

She is the founder and chair of essential organizations such as Marsy’s Law Task Force and the Southeastern Ohio Human Trafficking Coalition. Chamber president Jennifer Vincent said, “We thank you, Michelle, for your creative thinking of new and better ways to assist victims of crime and putting our community first.” She exemplifies what it means to serve selflessly and wholeheartedly.
